AMD Radeon HD 7750 For Inspiron 620 MT?

Can anyone tell me if the 620 MT (i5, 6 GBDDR)  can safely run the AMD Radeon HD 7750?  Also, any ideas on thediffernce between suppliers (ASUS, HIS, Saphire, etc.)  Is one better than the other?  Thanks.

The performance issues are related to disc speed and size.  Getting a 6GB SSD would be a waste because you cannot achieve that speed with the onboard chipset.  Other than a theoretical power issue I don't see any issues.  Many OEMs overstate the power requirements.  The 55W TDP of the card makes me think that 305W will be fine.  The 6670 TDP is 60W.  The 7750 is new.  Its not hugely faster than the 6670 but it should be a bit better.

Hi,

Welcome to the community

As I check on AMD Radeon 7750, it uses PCI Express 3.0 x16 technology. I think that card will not be compatible with your current port. Technically it should work, but it may have a degraded perfomance. If you can bear with me, I will make a quick research on this matter. Give me 24-48 hours on this issue.

The AMD Radeon 7750 does use PCI Express 3.0 technology.

HOWEVER PCI-E 3.0 is Backwards compatible to PCIE 1.0 and 2.0.

The performance issue I see with the Inspiron 620 desktop is The INTEL H61 Chipset Does not support AHCI or 6Gb/s Sata.

The Asus and HIS brands tend to have LARGER slower fans so they are Quieter.  They also make Silent versions that have no fan at all but rather

a Huge heat sink that covers both sides of the card.  Power supply may need upgrade but Since the HD6670 GDDR5 card works fine I don't think

the 7750 will be a problem.

So which card would be the best that I can/should put in my 620 MT?

The one with the Best Warranty and lowest price that has free shipping.

Be aware that there are GDDR3 versions of the card.  Those are quite a bit SLOWER than GDDR5 versions of the card.

Thanks for the help! I am not knowledgeable enough about the tech to know everything that you have referenced. I started this because I wanted the best card available for my new machine. An older thread seemed to come to uniformity agreement that the 6670 was best. Then I saw this card was new and touted for its performance with low power use. Couldn't find any threads talking about the 7750 so I thought I should make sure before going that route. U referred to possible performance issues due to the chip. Is that a possible problem that should Stearns me to the other card or is it a possible issue with that card also? Thanks again!
