ATi R520 benchmarks

http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/article/1813/

Notice the benchmarks. The ATi cards fall behind the nVidia counterparts, mainly due to the 16 pipes in all cards.

X1800XT will feature 512MB of RAM @ 600/1400 and 16 pipes - $599
X1800XL will feature 512MB of RAM @ 550/1250 and 16 pipes - $499
X1800Pro will feature 256MB of RAM @ 500/1000 and 16 pipes - $449
X1800LE will feature 256MB of RAM @ 450/900 and 12 pipes - $349

I believe all of them feature DDR3 RAM. There is also a X1600 lineup to replace the X600 series and a X1300 lineup to replace the X300 series.

Re: ATi R520 benchmarks

Yeah, I read the same review and don't get the pricing of the entire line. Why would anyone pay $600 for the X1800XT when, at best, it's comparable to the 7800GTX that costs $100 - $150 less.

I can only think that ATI hopes to catch a lot of the early-adopter dopes in the first month or two before dropping to more competitive pricing.

I was also surprised to read that ATI was so petty in excluding Hardware Analysis from the early intro because they didn't like some of their reviews. This is not professional behavior.

Re: ATi R520 benchmarks

Exactly. nVidia remains top dog. The 7800GTX defeats the ATi X1800XT in all benchmarks, even the ATi favored HL2 (at higher settings).

Re: ATi R520 benchmarks

The GeForce 7800 GTX is still better. ATI is going to have to do better.
