Adding 2nd video card to Vostro 200 mini tower for 2nd monitor

Hello, I am trying to add a second monitor to my Vostro 200 mini tower.  I know the built in graphics adapter does not support dual-monitor output so I purchased a cheap VGA PCI card (ATI Rage XL) since the setup is just for work-related use.

After installing the video card, the whole boot process shows up on the screen on the newly added video card. Upon reaching the XP login screen, it switched to the other monitor (the one attached to the built-in card). The other screen went black.  The video card is recognized in the device manager and when I go to the display settings it recognizes both monitors yet one monitor remains black.

Is there a way I can get these two monitors cooperating or am I out of luck?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Use a USB monitor adapter instead.

You cannot use both the integrated video and a separate card. It's either one or the other. but not both. You have to add a dual monitor card to use 2 monitors.
