Alienware X51-R3 Constant black screen resets

Hello, 

Wondering if anyone knows the fix for random black screens and crashes for an Alienware X51-R3 running a GXT 970.   I've always had problems with it running hot but for the last few months its been having random black screens (mostly while playing games but also on the desktop).  This started happening so frequently that I changed the display port output on the card but that only helped for like a week.   I have run all the stress tests and the system passes but I constantly have to reboot my system to get my screen back.  In most cases, I can still hear audio but can't get the screen back.  Here is what I have tried:

• Disabled the other card (intel HD 530). 
• Run all the built in optimizers
• Updated drivers. 
• removed and reinstalled the GTX (software only)
• Run games in compatibility mode (Diablo 3, Planet Coaster)

As I have typed this post my screen has gone black 4 times.  Is the card constantly resetting because it is going bad??
