Best Graphics Card options
Hi
I have recently been given a Dell Inspiron 660s (Core i3 2120 3.3 GHz) and I want to upgrade the graphics card. What is the most powerful card available to this set-up and what power supply would I need to get to go with it. Money isn't an option here, I just want the best card possible.
Thanks

If money wasn't an option you should have chosen the 660 MT not the slim version.
There are very very very very very few options. Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 11202-10-20G Video Card - 1GB, GDDR5 is one.

that is the best card that your little system can run but it can chug through some games pretty well if you keep your games off the crazy high graphic settings.

Any idea of what power source I will need to buy based on the fact that the case is so small.

The Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 11202-10-20G card

Uses less than 75W so the stock power supply works in Most Dells.
Standard Size cards don't physically fit into the case.

excuse my ignorance on this but when i was looking at the spec it said the graphics card required a 400 watt psu, hence my question about the power supply. can you explain?

The HD 7750 uses no more than 50 watts under a heavy load like gaming. It does not require a 400 watt PSU. Apparently, it has been used on the small 220 watt Dell units with success. The manufacturer's always suggest a much higher requirement than what is actually needed. The 400 watt requirement is also for the entire system not just the card itself. If you had a system full of several hard drives, optical drives and other components, then you might want a higher wattage power supply. The average Dell computer does not have all this. Even the HD 6450 that I have in the 660s with a 220 watt power supply states it requires a minimum of a 400 watt PSU and that of course is just completely unnecessary and I have never had any problems.

I would agree with Kelbear1 on that, dell PSU's are under rated when it comes to graphics cards. Hence the reason that you can fit a higher rated graphics into a system which specks a lower rated PSU.

Not all 7750's are made the same though. Only the SAPPHIRE 100357LP Radeon HD 7750 card specified works in most all Dells. The specified card does not use too much power and it PHYSICALLY Fits into the case. Others do not.
