Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade the grapics card on my inspiron 530. Can anyone tell me which is the best card to upgrade to, in regards to my spec?

3gb ram

Pentium (R) Dual-Core CPU E5400 @ 2.70GHZ

Windows Vista 32bit

Current card; GeForce 9800 GT

1024 Dedicated Video Ram

Thanks for all help :emotion-1:

The Radeon HD5670, Radeon HD4670, Radeon HD4650, GeForce GTS250, Geforce GT240 will work but you should first upgrade the power supply.

500w Antec NeoPower power supply

That's excellent, many thanks :)

Forgot to mention, I already upgrade the PSU the last time I changed the Graphics Card.

I am using a Casecom 500w,

Thinking about upgrading to a better one though.

Thanks again.

Just looked into these Nvidia's and they don't seem to be much better than my current 9800gt

Are they Radeons much superior to that card?

I'm wondering if I should just upgrade the CPU instead

The Game I'm trying to play is Total War Shogun 2, game loads etc, but is very slow and wont progress into battles etc

If you want to upgrade from the 9800 GT, I would recommend the AMD HD 6770 or GTX 550 Ti since you have a 500 watt power supply.  However, your CPU is lacking based on recommended requirements.   I would give the video card a try first and then go from there.   You can get the HD 6770 for less than $100.

ok thanks, have a feeling its more of a problem with the CPU, as the game looks great, just that the PC struggles on actions, also think i need to upgrade that before i can use a better card...

Thanks anyway :)

posted a question about it here;

I would recommend this CPU HERE, but the cost may not be worth it which is why I would just try a new video card first like the HD 6770 and spend as little as possible.  It's too bad your system did not come with the Quad.  Most games rely on the GPU and the CPU, but I'm not sure about this particular game.
