My Dell Optiplex 790 doesn't turn on, and the power LED blinks amber. However, if I hold down the built in self test button, everything boots up fine and I can use the computer. Anyone know what I could try to fix this?
Thanks for writing to us. When did the issue start? When you say built in self test, do you mean tapping f12 on boot up?
Would suggest you to update the BIOS if not yet done and observe for any changes.
Also Please remove the memory modules, and then try with one at a time and check if it works.

This started 2 days ago. By built in self test I mean the button on the power supply. I have determined that for some reason the computer is not automatically connecting the green sense wire on the power supply to ground, so the power supply does not start up. Pressing the button shorts the green wire to ground, and then everything works just fine. I tried removing the memory modules and it didn't fix the issue.
