Blue screen. Can't figure out what is wrong. Please help.

I have a Dell XPS Gen 5 desktop computer with BIOS version A03 and every time I try to turn it on it gives me the blue screen before windows can even load.  I have read multiple forums and tried everything I can to get it to work short of taking it in to a professional.  The error message that it gives me is:

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x772D9000, 0xF789E504, 0xF789E200)

I can't even boot it in safe mode even though it says that's what I should do.  Please help me figure out what to do.

Hi Kvmess,

See if you can boot to the F12 partition and run the Dell diagnostics. This will rule out a RAM or hard drive problem.

If everything comes up clean, then I would perform a repair installation of XP.

Thanks for the advice, I ran the diagnostics and the results were

Drive 0: WDC WD1600JS-75MHB0 - Pass

Drive 1: No Device

Drive 2: No Device

Drive 3: No Device

Drive 4: HL-DT-STDVD-ROM GDR8163B - Diagnostics not supported

Drive 5: _NEC DVD+/-RW ND-3530A - Diagnostics not supported

Any ideas?

Everything looks good there. The next step would be a repair installation of the operating system.
