I have a Dimension 4300 system using 1.6GHz P4 CPU. The description in dell's website (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dzuul/specs.htm#memory) said that this system can hold 512MB maxium. Now I'm using 521MB, it'fine. But what if I want to upgrade it to 768MB or 1GB? Can I do it? Or do I need upgrade BIOS for it, Now I running A02 version, I think. I want to edit some home vedio, so I want to add more memory, does this help? By the way, does this system support widescreen LCD monitor like Dell 2005FPW 20.1 inch? Appreciate any suggestion and answers.
Re: Can Dimension 4300 hold up to 1G SDRAM memory?
They don't require pairs, matched or otherwise, nor is there any advantage to a matched pair. Dell originally had a memory limit of 512MB because systems were shipped with Windows ME which had a 512MB limit. If you are running XP then 1GB is fine.
