Can my Optiplex 760 be upgraded to a quad core CPU?

Hopefully this is the system id: 50408452.

The label says AST ID: 50408452

I am trying to make this computer capably of playing OverWatch without major lag and have upgraded the ram to 8GB, and the video card to an nVidia Gforce GT710.

It depends on which mainboard you have.

The Optiplex 760MT uses two motherboards -

T674K Non-Quad core CPU motherboard

U562N Quad core CPU motherboard

If you have the 1st one so you cannot use a quad core CPU on it.

I did not find either of the mentioned DPN's on this mobo.

the DPN that I found on the mobo is OG214D.

the full CN is OG214D-13740-937-0279-A00.

Any other suggestions on whether this is upgradable to Quad core.

G214D-13740-937-0279-A00 is a very early version this is NOT quad core board.

Most boards shipped with core2 duo cpu had non copper heatsink and non quad core support.

Chris M may have insight on this.
