Case upgrade for Dell Inspirion 3847

Hello,

I wanted to know if it is possible for me to change out computer cases. I desire to use exisiting parts from my dell computer and transfer them over into a Rosewill Challenger computer case?

I've recently begun upgrading my computer little by little, and came to conclusion that my computer for the most part is great in terms of components, I just need to upgrade the psu to a evga 500w and two team elite 4gb ddr3 133mhz ram to equal 8gb. I've have seen the motherboard inside when installing the Zotac GT 630 Zone Edition ddr3 1 GB 902mhz last saturday, it appears to be of normal standard size, but I will like to verify with someone else here if the intel h81 motherboard is standard or custom in size.

I plan on doing the installation myself and have taken all the precautions in preparation as I did with installing the after market or off the market nvidia gpu. In short, will I be able to upgrade the case which is a mid tower atx form factor from Newegg,or will it not be possible. If not then I ok, with going ahead next payment for the psu and ram to finish out the build upgrade.

Below is the link to my computer and components I desire to purchase as upgrades.

PC Specs found from Best Buy - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-desktop-4gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive/5859014.p?id=1219165153058&skuId=5859014&st=g3240&cp=1&lp=2

Rosewill Challenger from Newegg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153&cm_re=rosewill_challenger-_-11-147-153-_-Product

EVGA 500W from Newegg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438016&cm_re=evga_500w-_-17-438-016-_-Product

Team Elite 4gb ddr3 1333mhz from Newegg - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313097&cm_re=team_elite_4gb-_-20-313-097-_-Product

Total with case comes out to less than 200 total, without the case being involved in purchase the price will be even less.

I've found my answer. It appears that the motherboard is custom oem and the psu the same. Thus going for a case will not work and it will yield as incompatible. I will take my chance with the evga psu to see if it works as it should most likely and just upgrade the ram to 8gb.

For anyone who may have a similar question as me, the answer is simply no the the case due to parts being specific in size and yes to the psu or power supply unit and ram upgrade. I will go ahead a plan for the evga 500w and team elite ram to purchase once I have the time.

I've found my answer.  Due to the OEM build quality of the pc, I'm unable to have a guarantee success with changing cases. The motherboard is pariticular in size and  the power supply unit is also oem. I will go ahead and make plans for the psu upgrade as majority of the time, a new psu should work unless it is a rare case. I will also upgrade to 8gb of ram.
