Compatible CPU's for Foxconn G33M02 mobo?

Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade my girlfriend's Pentium Dual Core E2160 CPU (1.80mhz) to something better, but I'm curious as to what cpus are compatible with this motherboard. She has an inspiron 530s.

Here is the rest of her specs (not sure if they matter):

G33M02 Motherboard

4GB DDR2 800mhz SDRAM
250W Power Supply

Prior to installing the processor, check that you have BIOS Version 1.0.15, or higher installed, when support for new Intel CPU's was added.

After upgrading to a newer CPU that supports Intel's VT-x, will the newest BIOS version 1.0.18 support this? I don't see an option in the BIOS menu to enable it. Is this an automatic deployment of VT-x?

Thanks!

No, I also checked my Inspiron 530MT with a G33M02 motherboard, a Core 2 Duo e8400 CPU and BIOS version 1.0.18 and again could find no support.

I gather I should take this to mean that even if the CPU supports VT-x there is no way to utilize it with even the latest BIOS, 1.0.18? Is it wishful thinking to believe that it would be recognized automatically?

Yes, that is correct and it is 'wishful thinking'.
