Connect AC511 Soundbar to USB ports 9ab on U2415 monitor

The Soundbar works if connected to port 6 on the back of the monitor (USB downstream) but not if I connect to port 9a or 9b on the bottom of the monitor. The upstream cable is connect to port 8 on the bottom of the monitor. Other charging devices (eg phone) work on 9ab but the soundbar doesn't. Can anyone help please?

The preferred USB downstream port for the AC511 and the U2415 is the #6 back/rear USB downstream port. For testing, disconnect all other USB devices from #9a and #9b. Test the AC511 on those ports by itself.

List all the USB devices plugged into the monitor.

Thanks Chris. The computer is a Dell XPS13 (9350) which is short of ports so I am using a Dell AC100 adaptor. The soundboard will work connecting to port 6 but I want to connect it to 9ab to free up port 6

I am confused about Dell AC100 adapter. Isn't that an AC power adapter for the laptop? I am not sure what it has to do with the monitor and the AC511? The fact that it works in #6 means the AC511 is OK. Anyway, you have the U2415 USB downstream cable connected from U2415 #8 USB upstream port and the other end connected directly into the XPS 13 USB port. You then plugged the AC511 into all three #9a, then #9b, one at a time. And you are saying that the AC511 does not work in any of those four USB downstream ports? Yet if you plug any other device into any of those four USB downstream ports, the device works?

Remove the DA100 from the troubleshooting.
* Connect the U2415 directly to the XPS 13 via its USB downstream cable and video cable
* Then test the AC511 on all four of the U2415 bottom USB downstream ports

My apologies, it's a

Genuine Original Dell DA100 Compact SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to HDMI VGA Ethernet USB 2.0 Adapter , Plug and Play , USB Powered , Dell P/N : K12FR , NP4T4 ,

The usb downstream cable from U2415 #8  is plugged into the usb slot of this adapter. The adapter is then plugged into one of the USB slots on the XPS 13. The soundboard AC511 does work when plugged into #6 but not when plugged into any of the three #9ab. If I plug my USB phone charger into any  #9ab, it works fine.

Tried this.

AC511 no sound in any of the four (9ab)  U2415 ports. Only works in #6 on back of monitor.

I am stumped. Per the warranty, you may initiate a monitor exchange. Test the replacement before sending any monitor back to Dell. If the replacement does not have the issue, keep it and send us the original. If the replacement has the SAME issue, the monitors could not at fault.

Thanks for looking at this Chris. I think I will keep the monitor and wait for the new Dell Dock WD15 Thunderbolt adapter to come out which should have more USB ports on it.
