DELL All-in-one power cord

I have a Dell all in one that is about 4 years old.  The other day I started it up and used it for a little bit.  I left to go eat and when I returned the computer was off.  I tried to push the power supply, check the power strip and made sure everything was plugged in correctly.  No change.  I did notice that the blue light ring around the power cord was off, so I unplugged it from the computer and the power strip.  Plugged it back into the power strip and the light came on.  Fantastic, until I plugged it back into the computer where it went out.  I tried other power cords (same size etc) and they would also have the light go off when plugged into the computer.  What can I do to get this fixed?

Best to remove your service tag.  You have an Inspiron One 2020

The motherboard may be shutting down due to internal failure.

Converter Board or other motherboard issue.

So the culprit could be either your internal power supply or the internal 3-V CR2032 lithium coin cell battery. To remove and replace the coin cell battery is pretty intensive.

Hi Brothoff

Thanks for writing to us.

If the light on power cord cuts off once connected to the system, mean its motherboard is shorting. The motherboard needs to be replaced.

Do provide us your system tag#, email address and name, should your system be under warranty, we will get it repaired.

Disconnect the powercord and hold down the power button for 10 sec and then put back the cable, check for any changes. Also try remove the memory modules and then connect the power cord and observe for any changes.

Await your response.

Sorry for the delay.  I had my computer at work and just left it there over the weekend.  My service tag is 8PJD9R1.

I have found out that it is not the power supply.  I think from other discussions it is the Motherboard.  I will have to replace it otherwise the computer is just a huge paperweight.  Thanks for the assistance

I have changed out the motherboard.  I am getting power but when I push the power button, I get a single amber light flash but no powering on.  I know the fan starts as soon as I push the button and as soon as the amber light goes out (1 sec later) the fan cuts off.  I have checked to make sure I have plugged everything back in correctly.  What can I do next?
