DELL XPS 700 and a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850

Hi Folks!

I own a XPS700 system in stock version, means no motherboard change has been done!Currently equiped with a Core 2 Extreme X6800 (Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition)

From several sources I know now that its possible to run an Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme QX6800 CPU (see links), but I wonder whats about the QX6850 CPU? Just 70Mhz more than the 6800 but a FSB of 333MHz instead of 266MHz..

differences in detail:

Core 2 Extreme QX6800[2] Kentsfield
(Core)
B3 2933 MHz 2× 4 MB 266 MHz 11× 0,85–1,5 V 130 W 775 9. April 2007 SL9UK
G0 23. Juli 2007 SLACP
Core 2 Extreme QX6850[2] Kentsfield
(Core)
G0 3000 MHz 2× 4 MB 333 MHz 0,85–1,5 V 130 W 775 23. Juli 2007 SLAFN

Could anyone tell me if its possible to run the QX6850 on the XPS 700 stock mobo without encountering any problems? thx in advance!!!

EDIT:

WELL, i just checked this nvidia page and if its right, the QX6850 should be no problem since the original XPS 700 mobo is equiped with nforce 590 SLI.

Re: DELL XPS 700 and a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850

Hi,

I just bought a QX6850 and I have the same system like yours except for the CPU I have Q6700. And my computer won't start with the QX6850 now either the CPU is already dead since I bought a used CPU or its not compatible with this motherboard.
