Dell 3007WFP-HC monitor with NVIDIA Quadro NVS 420 Video Card - can't get 2560x1600 resolution

I am runnning a Dell OptiPlex 960 machine with a 30" Dell 3007WFP-HC monitor and NVIDIA Quadro NVS 420 video card with 256MB graphics memory.  I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.

When I try to adjust the screen resolution, the maximum resolution I can achieve is 1280x800.  I can't figure out why.  I'm using a DVI Dual-Link cable (part # NG032).  I've attempted to reinstall the driver for the monitor and the video card, but have not been able to get the resolution to go any higher.  According to the product specs on both the monitor and the video card, I should be able to go up to 2560x1600.

I've seen others who have had similar problems, but no one with the exact same problem.

Any ideas?  The pixels are so big, it's hurting my eyes!

I am also experiencing the same issue with a Dell 19" 1907FPV.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and cannot get the resolution needed.  (1280 x 800 is the maximum I can use as well.)

Dell support has been of no help and I would like to add my concerns and ask for any assistance.

Thank you!!

I am experiencing the exact same issues, with almost the exact same setup, except I am running Windows 7. Tried the official drivers from NVIDIA's site, updating monitor inf files, even trying to create a custom monitor resolution in the nvidia control panel, but no luck with the problem.

I know it is not the monitor or dual link dvi cable, since i have dropped in the 960 as a replacement for a Precision workstation where the monitor worked perfectly. Any help would be appreciated.

I am experiencing a same problem with Dell Precision T3500 Windows 7 64bits, Dell 2007FP monitors and NVIDIA Quadro NVC 420 video card. I use a displayport to DVI converter to connect the monior with the PC.  If I uninstalled NVIDIA driver I can use up to 1600x1200. With the driver I can only used 1280x720. Make the situation ever worse, my second monitor is not recoginized. I called Dell Tech Support and I still not get their reply about how to solve the problem. It seems I am not along.

the nvs 420 using DVI connectors is only a single link DVI port.  To get 2560x1600 from the card you need to be using the DisplayPort version of the breakout cable.

if you need dual link DVI to your monitor you will need to get a DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI converter.  :emotion-6:
