Dell BIOS numbers

Hello,

I was checking for an update for my BIOS on the Dell support site, and the most current one listed for my PC is A04.  My current BIOS is A07, but it shows an earlier release date than the A04 file.  Is this common for Dell to offer updates out of order, or should the releases always be a higher number than the previous ones?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Unfortunately I don't.  Is there a way I can look it up?  I bought it back in May of 2010 if that helps at all.

Hi Urza513,

We can't help much without the model of your Dell desktop.

There are five Aurora models. Do you know which one you have?

Sorry, it's an Alienware Aurora.

Ok, I randomly checked BIOS downloads and I think you're referring to the original Aurora model. I see A04 as the most recent and the previous versions have higher numbers as you said. Let me check with Dell-Chris M.

I suggest you NOT update anything until I get some information.

The file library is all messed up. Do not trust any of the dates listed on it. You have the Aurora-R1. If you are currently not having issues, I would not update the bios.

Thanks Chris!  Any idea if/when that will be straightened out?
