Dell Desktop Dimension 9200 : New Graphics Card Help

Hello, I have Dell Dimension 9200, with an Intel Core 2 Duo Prcoessor and an Intel P965 Express Chipset. I currently have 4GB RAM and Radeopn X1300/X1500 Series Graphic Cards x 2.  I am currently running Windows 32bit Home Edition.

I play World of Warcraft and have noticed a drop in game performance since the latest patch. After looking at the minimum/recommended system requirements to play wow I think I need to change my graphics card https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/minimum-system-requirements-for-world-of-warcraft  . I have also just bought a new screen the dell Ultrasharp U2412M.

Can someone please recommend a Graphics Card that I can use to play WOW nicely with my new screen. I use DVI cable.  Wow also have a list of supported video cards https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/WoWsupportedvideo if this helps, but its all mistifying to me.

I mite add that I have considered upgrading my OS to Windows 7 64bit and upgrading memory to 8GB, but not sure if that will make the difference.

If anyone can help me with this thanks

JOY

Hi Joy,

There are many graphics cards which are compatible to the computer: Here is the list of few graphics cards which would work on desktop computer:

  1. Radeon HD 6570
  2. Radeon HD 6670(400W)
  3. Radeon HD 7750 (400W)

Also, providing the link for the specifications of the computer:

Adding the link for the manual for Dimension 9200 which is also known asXPS410:

Generally if the video card is upgraded on the computer, then you would need to upgrade the power supply too as the power supply on this computer is 375W.

Please reply if you have any further questions.

I would go with the 7750. Should be no problem for your PSU to handle it. I had a XPS 420 with the same PSU and ran a Nvidia 9800GT that recommended a 400 watt PSU. No problems at all. The advantage of the 7750 will be speed plus DDR5 memory. If you go with the 6670, get the one with the DDR5.

Thank you kindly Rajesh for the info, I have looked at the cards you suggest and have found this one . www.maplin.co.uk/asus-radeon-hd6670-1gb-graphics-card-611580   at a good price

and two on Amazon:

www.amazon.co.uk/.../ref=de_a_smtd

www.amazon.co.uk/.../ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1

Are any of these ok for me and which ones would I need to upgrade PSU for?

Thanks for your time

JOY

Hi, just to say, installed the HD7750 and it works a treat. Bumped desktop and gaming graphics performance from 4.1 to 7.4, so WOW gameplay is sooooo much better. It was not difficult to install either, me being a novice at these things.

Thanks for your help guys.
