The HDD form my fathers desktop (7 yrs old) has died. I have 2 questions about it
1. I can't find a keybord and mouse plug on the backside. Originally a Logitech wireless keybord and mouse are connected. What to do?
2. Is it possible to install Win 7 on this system? In the Dell driver update only XP en Vista are supported.
Keyboard and Mouse use USB connections - connect them directly to USB ports on the rear, do not use a USB hub.
Vista drivers will work for Windows 7. If there are Vista 32 bit drivers, then install Win 7 32 bit. Depending on how much memory is installed you may want to install more. Bare minimum for Win 7 is 2GB.

You should not install win 7 on such an old computer. It's not worth the $100 to upgrade to win 7. Reinstall the original os. You can use the wireless mouse and kb, but you cannot use an old ps2 mouse and kb.
