Is the flashing icon located in the 'System Tray', do you have an Array [RAID] installed?

Try running Dell Diagnostics extended test on the hard drives and see if it can find any errors.

Thanks for the reply.

My PC has started working again but I am a bit concerned that the PC keeps freezing and one of the symbols on the CPU is flashing. The symbol looks like a ' can '. or a 'battery'.

My PC would not boot up from the SATA HD a few weeks ago. I tried changing the BIOS settings and also tried disabling the Floppy Drive which it bbots from but it wouldnt work. The only way my PC works is by RAID ON. The icon is situated near the USB ports at the front.
