Dell Inspiron 3043 All in One- 2nd monitor?

My dell is not detect a 2nd monitor when I connect it to my Acer monitor.  I have tried using the VGA cable with a HDMI adapter.  I have also tried using a DVI to HDMI cable.  The Acer monitor only has VGA and DVI-D connections?  Is there another way to connect the 2nd monitor?

I have the Dell Inspiron 3043 All in One

You might want to consider using a USB2>DVI-D or USB2>VGA  adaptor to connect that second monitor, but they're not exactly cheap.

And if you buy one of these adaptors, make sure the one you get can (1) clone the internal display, (2) spread the desktop over 2 screens, and (3) show 2 different screens at the same time, and is compatible with whatever version of Windows you're using.

According to the specifications, the HDMI port on the 3043 is HDMI-IN, not HDMI-OUT, so I don't think what you want to do will work... :emotion-6:

I have an Inspiron 20 model 3043 as well.   Does a person need to check each computer to see if the HDMI is an in or out?   I thought the HDMI was a standard feature out so it could be used for presentations.  I talked to an IT guy for a company here in Peoria and he was surprised that the HDMI only worked in.  I am very disappointed.

What do you think?

Here are the Inspiron 20 3043 manuals. Open the Inspiron 20 3043 Specifications PDF. It shows that the right side HDMI port is IN only.

Can yu tell me if there is ANY way to connect a second monitor, can you do it wirelessly or through the USB 2 port? I have just purchased a Inspiron 24 3464.

Yes, read the Verified Answer in this thread.

Get a USB>video adapter with a port that matches one of those available on the second monitor.
