Dell Inspiron 560 Media Card Reader Not working

I have an Inspiron 560 with a Media Card Reader. I have not been able to find this Drive/Module in device manager and for some reason can't get it to work.  When I insert an SD card (the green LED lights up on the module when the card is installed) but you never see the drive in my computer or contents of SD Card. The USB portion of the card reader works perfect and recognizes any device that is plugged in via usb just can't get the media slots to work.

How do I get the media slot of this card reader to work again?

Hi,

Have you updated the drivers for the card reader, it should be under chipset category on Dell support site.

When was the last time did it work??

Regards

The last time I remember it working was a year or so ago.

Which drivers do I select for card reader from the support site?  The Chipset driver is that what controls the media readers?  Do they not have seperate drivers?

Followed your instructions and updated the files and it still does not work.

When I insert a media card the light goes green but the card is never read or does not show up in file manager.

Also make sure you always un-mount SD cards and USB memory devices before removing.

Try reading the card in another computer. After it connects and reads, try it in the first machine. This actually worked for me. I have idea why.
