Dell Inspiron 580s Graphics card failure message

Hello,

A week ago I was on my PC and I receive a black screen saying my graphics card has failed and needs to restart the PC. So i did it and it worked perfectly afterwards so i did not think anything about it at the time. Then yesterday I had the exact same issue occur and I am asking this to see if i need to replace it or not. My Graphics is the Intel (R) Graphics 4000 Integrated graphics card. The PC is 6 years old and has been used a lot, so I believe it is near the end of its life.

Thank you for who ever that is replying and If you need more information, just ask.

I am planning on rebuilding the PC in about a year, but i am just wanting to make sure it is Not a Fatal problem.

It's an mATX chassis with a TFX power supply. You should be able to swap in an 1155 or 1150 mATX motherboard, at the expensive of invalidating your Windows license.

Intel 4000 'Ivy Bridge' graphics date back only three years (released on April 24, 2012). The 580s is equipped with an earlier design.

The Intel onboard graphics are part of the CPU, and it's highly unusual for the CPU to fail. I'm wondering if the issue is elsewhere?

I checked to make sure and the issue is not anywhere else.  I am planning on rebuilding the PC in about a year, but i am just wanting to make sure it is Not a Fatal problem.

Okay, thank you rdunnill for your help and I will most likely rebuild my PC since it is the motherboard that is creating the issues. Thank you!
