Dell Inspiron 660 Memory Upgrade

Hello,  My computer came with 8GB of RAM and today i went out and bought a 8GB stick of RAM from best buy but the computer will not detect it,  The Power light flashes Orange.  Its 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3 and i don't understand why it doesn't work. Here is a link to the Memory.

Its just DDR3,  Your confusing the hell out of me,  So ECC is a no go?  Samsung Has a 8GB which is ECC,  So your telling me its not going to work?  The memory installed in the Dell is Samsung.

Edit:  So is this what i need? 8GB, 240-pin DIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 memory module

Also,  Most websites say the Max Memory is 8GB for the 660,  But if you order from dell there is a 12GB option for $50 More.  So i already have 8GB,  can i even do 12GB or am i wasting my time.

Edit 2:  Ok i think i got it, turns out i have a Inspiron 3847 Desktop which is in the 660 series.  Max Memory is 16GB and this is what i really need.

Is it ECC or DDR3U??

Memory:

DDR3 PC3-12800

Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-12800, DDR3 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 8GB
Slots: 2

Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.

Memory or DRAM is the "working" memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.

ECC vs. NON-ECC

CAUTION: If you remove the original memory module(s) from your computer
during a memory upgrade, keep them separate from any new memory module(s)
that you may have, even if you purchased the new memory module(s) from Dell.
If possible, do not pair an original memory module with a new memory module.
Otherwise, your computer may not start properly.
CAUTION: Do not install ECC or DDR3U memory modules.

Inspiron 3847 Desktop is one of the Inspiron Desktop 3000 Series, not the 660 'series'.

The Inspiron 660 is not a series, it's only one of two Dell computer models, the 660 Mini Tower and the 660s Slim Line .
