Dell OptiPlex 3040 MT Windows 7 Pro (includes Windows 10 Pro) - How to install Windows 10 ?
How to install Windows 10 on a Dell OptiPlex 3040 MT with Windows 7 Pro preinstalled (includes Windows 10 Pro) ?
The system comes with a DVD labeled Windows 10 Pro x64 and reading "to be used on a system with an OS installed and to be used only to reinstall the operating system".

Back up your files on external media. Then boot from the DVD and follow the prompts. It may offer you the choice either to upgrade Win 7 to Win 10 or to do a clean install of Win 10...

I have modified boot options to UEFI as indicated on the DVD. I have booted from the DVD. The system entered the troubleshooting mode. I have selected to reset the OS but it says that it does not find a required partition.

same problem with an optiplex 3040m, the dvd only gives me the option to repair
ther is a windows 7 installation, which fails fior the repair option

Toss the DVD in the bin and download an up to date build of Windows 10. Make a Windows 10 Bootable USB, Enable SecureBoot and UEFI. See here for details:
