Dell OptiPlex GX260 maximum RAM

Jump to solution

Hello people!

I have a Dell OptiPlex GX260 desktop with service tag number<ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>. It is a refurbished PC which my sister bought from our office many years ago. Just want to ask what is the maximum RAM that it can be upgraded to? When I was browsing its manual years ago, if I'm not mistaken, I've read that its maximum RAM is 2 GB. But I'm not sure if my recollection is right. I'm planning to upgrade its RAM and I want a little higher than 2 GB. For example, if I upgraded its RAM higher than 2 GB (if its the correct maximum RAM for my model), what will happen? Will it damage something on board? Or will it make the system unstable?

Thanks.

Max RAM is 2G (2X1G PC333/DDR2700) memory.

You won't see any RAM above 2G (assuming the system even boots if you try).

Thanks to you two, jayant964 and ejn63. Finally I got a real answer. I've been searching for that complete specifications for years and that link really end up my confusion. I'm running it on a Pentium 4 3.06 GHz processor though the maximum speed mentioned in the L2 cache is only 2.6 GHz. I hope it will not have a bad impact.
