Dell Optiplex 380 - Fan Runs Constantly

Does anyone know what might cause the fan to start running constantly and how to stop it?

Thanks,

Lin

Hi LINRAYMOND,

Thank you for writing to us.

Can you provide us with more information like:

* Does this happen occur on a specific application or while powering up or powering down the system?

* What is the current version of BIOS on this system?

Please try running the on-board diagnostics by following the instructions from the below link:

For further help post back any error code/message along with the service tag of your system.

Dear Akshatha M,

Thank you for your help.

It began Monday, after I had checked a mpg4 file on a flash drive.  I ejected the flash drive but it didn't give me the usual safe to remove icon.  The flash drive icon did disappear, so I pulled the flash drive out and the cooling fan started running.  It hasn't stopped since.  Even after shutting down the computer and rebooting several times.

Running the diagnostics the following error code came up:  OFOO:133C (or perhaps those are zeros: 0F00:133C).

Thanks,

Lin
