Hello

Can i upgrade my PSU and VGA from Dell Optiplex 780 MT?

Planning Upgrade:

PSU: EVGA 450W BRONZE 80 PLUS BRONZE | 2X 6+2 PIN | 1X 4+4 PIN | 1X FDD | 3X IDE | 6X SATA | INPUT VOLTAGE 100-240 VAC

VGA: Asus Nvidia GT 720 1GB

Thank you

Sorry for my bad English.

Hi,

I guess the upgradation of  VGA may not be successful. In Dell Optiplex 780 MT specs it says that it supports only MT.

Kindly go through the link given below:

EVGA 450W is too small.  Not enough power on the 3.3V/5V rails.

You also REQUIRE a connector adapter.

Oh, i see. So, if nvidia gt720 1gb cant handle my pc, can i add nvidia gt210 1gb? I just saw at store nearby and i found it. Thanks to this document and Jobby Issac.

The 760 780 and 980 etc use a smaller than standard 24 pin connector.  The MODDIY adapter is REQUIRED.  The 24 pin connector is BLACK not White because its SMALLER than the Standard EPS12v connector.

The issues with 750TI are that it must be single slot card,  it requires MINI TOWER and that its a SHORT version of the card.

This is why the Zotac 1050TI mini ZT-P10510A-10L is a recommended card.

No its not wrong.  Removing the bracket is why dual slot cards don't fit.  Removing the shroud does not allow 10 to 12 inch cards AND it removes the ability to hold the stock heatsink in place.  This is Bad to worse advice.:emotion-3:

The stock heatsink is mounted DIRECTLY to the shroud.

This picture doesn't show an optiplex 780 MT motherboard.  The "MT" models have a standard 24pin ATX connector.  You can use any recent ATX supply to power and/or upgrade the "MT" model.  The SFF (DT) and USFF probably have the smaller connector that need the adapter.   I know because I upgraded the supply on my Optiplex 780 MT recently.
