Congratulations To All users of OptiPlex 9020,, finally after working on this machine and trying lot of different drivers i found the way to install all drivers of this machine dell optiplex 9020 in windows XP SP3 32bit .. and for all of you i shared backup of all confirmed checked and installed drivers to my 4shared account and here is the link to download,,

I gave up and put it on Windows 7.

If you need Windows XP for some specific software, its best to virtualise it. Windows XP is going to use a fraction of modern hardware and will work better in a virtual environment within Windows 7.

Windows 7 Professional has XP Mode which has the advantage that you don't need an additional Windows XP Professional license for the Virtual Machine.

VMware Player works far better however. I have went through installation of Windows XP on VMware Player here. You can set it up to use the serial port of the host machine, aswell as DVD and Floppy Drive. In addition you can use it to connect to some USB devices. I have demonstrated this using Windows 98SE and using it to control the host serial port and floppy drive.
