Dell PowerEdge T110 Server Power Arc Alert
If you have a Dell Power Edge T110 Server I strongly suggest you SHUT IT DOWN and check for this problem.
There is a SATA power junction that was not taped at termination on one of ours and it arced and ruined my O/S and destroyed two of my drives. The junction in question is tucked in where the floppy drive would otherwise have been. If you start pulling on that junction to inspect it without shutting your server down you run the risk of causeing it to arc and do damage. You can see in this picture that the ends of those wires are exposed. Other T110's in our server farm have a peice of electircal tape over the ends of the wires. I added more tape to them that wraps around the whole connector so it can't fall off.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to better serve you and deliver a new system. We regret the inconvenience this has caused to your day-to-day business but always appreciate your feedback regarding our products. As a reminder, Dell recommends that customers follow the system manuals when servicing any server; (i.e. removing power from the systems prior to opening chassis). At Dell we listen to customers like you, fully embracing direct feedback to achieve the quality and reliability you need. Thanks again for your comments.
