Dell Precision T7500 SAS controller support for 6.0Gb/s SSD drives
Hi, I have a dell precision workstations T7500 and have just purchased a SSD. The SSD documents state to fully benefit from the speed of the SSD I need SATA III 6.0Gb/s.
Does anyone know if my workstation motherboard supports SATA III 6.0Gb/s?
I know the Integrated LSI 1068e SAS/SATA is 3.0Gb/s speed and i'm lead to belive the optional PERC 6/i PCI-e SAS/SATA/SSD controller is also 3.0Gb/s.
I am suprised to find there is only one RAID card supported on this dell precision, and that my super powerful dell workstation is limited to the 3.0Gb/s speed.

Thank for that, but if like you say, the motherboard does not support sata 3 then what's the point of the two links you have posted? Whats the point in getting either the RocketRaid 620 or the PCIe 2.0 Apricorn upgrade kit if the motherboard is limited to Sata 3 3.0Gb/s. One option may be to upgrade the motherboard and save some money not having to upgrade the whole system as the bits can be transferred. Need an alternative motherboard that supports dual Xeon 6 cores.

The HighPoint RocketRAID 620 features next-generation SATA Revision 3.0 compliant internal SATA ports to provide 6 Gb/s data transfer rates.
The Velocity Solo x1 is an industry standard PCIe 2.0 card with an Asmedia 1061 controller chip designed to add a 2.5" Solid State Drive (SSD) via a super fast SATA III connection.
Only SSD's are faster Regular drives may say SATA III but they don't transfer data at that rate.

I have installed a data 3 controller to my t7500 too and worked fine. However when I moved it to another pcei slot 64 bit it does not recognise and now cannot get it to work? What slot should I use and any help with this too will be great...I wanted to use the fastest pcei slot to achieve the best read write speeds.
