Dell Precision T7500 Slow Post of 30 seconds
I recently purchased a refurbished Dell Precision T7500.
It contains two Xeon X5675 processors, 96GB Ram, A Quadro 4000 graphics card.
When I turn it on, it takes 30 seconds before it reaches the Dell screen. It is another 30 seconds before it has detected the hard drives and starts booting (most of this is in the "Initialising" phase).
Is this normal, and is there anything I can do to speed it up? I have already gone into the bios and selected the fast boot option.

List every device plugged into the Precision T7500 and to what port. In the BIOS- Boot Sequence, did you remove the checks from devices that you are not using as a boot device?

Hi Chris,
Thank you for trying to help...
Under Drives menu, only SATA-0 amd External SATA checked
Under SATA-0 details:
Controlled by ACHI BIOS
ADATA SU800 256GB Dive
No details under the others. Should I disabled exernal SATA seeing as nothing is there?
2 SAS drives are also attached to the computer, internally.
Under Diskette Drive, it had USB checked. I have disabled it.
Under Miscellaneous devices, I have them all checked:
- Front USB
- Rear Dual USB
- 1394 Controller
- Read Quad USB
- Audio
All I have plugged in are:
- a USB wifi dongle
- USB keyboard
- USB Mouse
Under Post Behaviour, Fast Boot is checked.
I made these changes:
Disable stuff not used in boot sequence
Disable external SATA
Disable Diskette Drive
I reset and timed it. The timings are the same...;{
What could I try next?

For now, disconnect the USB wifi dongle and disable the external SATA. Then retest.

I think his issue is the ADATA SU800 512GB SSD 3D-NAND 2.5 Inch SATA III

Thank you Chris and Fast Step.
I have tried disconnecting:
- the dvd drive
- the usb wifi dongle, keyboard and mouse
- the ADATA SU800 SSD
But none of those have helped.
The retailer said it is related to the system having so much RAM (96GB). I am not confident enough to try taking the RAM out to see if that improves things.
Is there anything else I can try?

Powering off and removing two of the memory sticks would not hurt anything, just to try it.

Some dell bios have ram test bypass. If you see anything on the screen press space bar. Does this make it post faster? You can test the ram theory by removing all but 16 gigs of ram.

I got 2 Dell Precision T7500 with different specs, one is 2xCPU and 96GB RAM in 12 slots, another is with single quad CPU 48GB RAM in 6 slots.
Both machines boot really slow to POST screen and after, until OS start loading.
I guess it's usual for these machines. I've got other issues with them that are more annoying and I'm not sure for how long will suffer and go with something else
That's why I just don't reboot them :)
