Dell S2716DG + ATI RADEON TRI-X 290x + 144hz Desktop Problems

Hey everyone!

I just bought and plugged this very nice monitor, everything is working good so far IF I keep the monitor settings in Windows at 60hz.

However if I try to set it to 144hz (again, I'm talking about Windows Monitor/Display Settings, not in any game), the screen starts to flicker constantly non-stop until I revert it back to 60hz.

Is this normal? I know this is a G-Sync monitor but I thought NVidia card was only needed to get G-Sync working for games and 144hz was going to be the standard Refresh Rate for Desktop even if you had an AMD card.

Am I doing something wrong? Is the monitor faulty?

Thanks in advance.

Federico.

FDB,
•Resolution: Up to 2560 x 1440 through DisplayPort and HDMI, with full-screen support or lower resolutions.

•Nvidia G-Sync-enabled monitor, with a extremely high refresh rate of 144 Hz and a rapid response time of 1 ms.

Thanks Jesse L.

So this means that 144hz is only available with a (supported) NVidia card?.

FDB,

Yes, it will on the Nvidia, I have no information on the ATI RADEON TRI-X 290x.
