Dell XPS 8500 Bluetooth (OS Win 10 Home)

Running Win 10 Home on Dell XPS 8500

I read that the XPS 8500 has Bluetooth 4.0.  I  successfully paired a Garmin Vivosmart activity tracker (which requires Bluetooth 4.0) with my XPS 8500 but it won't sync.  Is says no Bluetooth connection. Bluetooth is enabled in the Vivosmart.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So the biggest problem is there are no drivers for the XPS 8500 as Dell doesn't support it with Windows 10.  The drivers installed are probably generic drivers and thus you loose some compatibility/functionality. You could try installing the windows 8.1 driver for the Dell Wireless/BT card on the Dell Support site for your computer and see if that works.

Provide hardware IDs so we know what Wireless card you have:

Sys Manufacturer - Dell, Inc.
Sys Model - Dell XPS 8500
BIOS - Dell Inc. A09, 9/5/2012

Under Device Manager the following driver has a small yellowish triangle. Info regarding this driver is listed below:

Qualcomm Atheros AR3011 Bluetooth 3.0
This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful.

P.S. When I click update driver software it searches and comes up with "you already have the latest driver installed for this device".

Try this Atheros driver. Its from the latest Dell Wireless 1820 (Atheros) card. Often the newest Atheros driver works with older cards but I haven't got confirmation about this one yet:

Note the driver version is 12.0.0.102 and not 10.0.0.102 as stated in the file name.

If that one doesn't install go for this one:

Let me know the results. :)

When I click install, neither one will install.  When I extract the files and select only the bluetooth file to install, it says "this file cannot be installed by this method".

I just ordered a Bluetooth 4.0 dongle...this should finally fix the problem.

Thanks for your help with this issue.

Sorry about my previous post, I was supposed to add the part about ordering Bluetooth 4.0 dongle to another forum about another computer.

I still need help trying to get an issue resolved in Device Manager.  When I try to update the Atheros driver it says I have the latest driver installed.  I tried to update every driver in this Bluetooth section and they all say I have the latest driver.  I need to get Bluetooth 4.0 so I can work with my vivosmart activity tracker which requires 4.0.  I'm curious about this, since I'm able to pair my vivosmart (see photo)  why can't I sync my data via Bluetooth?  In order to sync data from my vivosmart I have to connect it via usb.
