Dell monitor E177FPb - Could not connect with Satellite Receiver through HDMI to VGA converter

Dear All,

I am using E177FPb monitor quite long time. Since i have a satellite receiver which has HDMI output. Planned to connect the same to my monitor. Purchased HDMI to VGA converter, connected, monitor giving error message " CANNOT DISPLAY THIS VIDEO MODE Optimum resolution 1280 x 1024 60Hz". Tried with other LG LED monitor, working fine. Tried the below steps as per advice from few sites. No luck.

1. Tried to change the setting of monitor through laptop, no luck.

FYI

My Sat receiver giving output format as 720P.

Hope you understand my concern, expecting the solution.

Best Regards

Hi

Thanks for your response.

On laptop screen my monitor resolution shows 1280 x 1024 75hz also. so my understanding is, monitor should support 720P is 1280 x 720  75Hz also. is that correct. if not, is there any other solution to resolve this.

Thx in advance.

Rgds

720P is 1280 x 720  75Hz your monitor does not support that.  1280 x 1024 60hz interlaced is max.  This monitor is over 10 years old.

"1280 x 720  75HZ"  is NOT a resolution that the monitor will EVER work with.     16 x 9 did not exist in the vga only world 4 x 5 aspect ratio was the norm.  1024 x 768 or 1280 x 1024 are fine but the other is not and NEVER will be.
