Dell precision 390 workstation memory upgrade

I recently got one for free from my work and after dusting off and placing an SSD drive, Im trying to upgrade memory. i bought two memory banks on ebay of which I thought should work, but the Dell is making a continuous buzzing noise after placing the two new memory banks and switching on power (of course the screen remains black). The original memory: 2x Nanya pc2-5300E-555-12-G1. 1GB.2Rx8.667.ECC My ebay choise: 2x Nanya 2GB.2Rx8.PC2-5300P-555-13-G0-667.ECC I also tried replacing the old memory banks with the new ones in the same slots but no luck. I really thought they would be compatible, does anyone have a clue what's wrong?

Crucial.com sells and guarantees memory that will work in Dell computers. Ebay memory is not recommended. Dell does not sell on Ebay. Those are private resellers.

I ditched the ECC banks and installed non-ecc banks, works like a charm.

just install non-ecc banks, as long as its ddr2 it doenst matter which brand you put in, you can even use different brands in one pc.

ps. Ive ditched the 390 because the bus speed was just too slow in the end, now Im using a T3600 which works like a brand new shiny charm.
