I just got a t3500 from work last week and got some ram sticks and a hdd for it, and its all fully put together now, but when i power it up i get these beep codes and status light
It leads to no display at all, i am using a displayport to hdmi cable, and tried both ports.
dell precision t3500
cpu: xeon 5600 series
ram: KINGSTON 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 PC3 10600R 1333MHz 240pin ECC
gpu: ATI FireMV V2260
hdd: wd 1tb
psu: as it comes
any ideas why no display???
the beep code is:
1-3-2 =1st 64 K RAM test in progress or failure
1- Solid 2- Off 3- Off 4- Off
Memory subsystem configuration activity is in progress. No memory modules were detected.
possible ram incompatibility or dimm slots playing up??
IThe ram i am using is ECC Registered
is this the problem?? As there is:
and apparently other people had same issues when they used 'registered' ECC ram
Sure sounds like incompatible RAM...
Crucial is only offering non-ECC RAM for this model and many people around here buy RAM from Crucial because if they recommended the modules for a specific PC model, they guarantee it works or they take it back.

10600 with 9-9-9-24 latency at 1.5v ram is too slow imho. Corsair Kits work CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9(2 X 4 Gig). Buffered and Registered Ram DOES NOT and will NOT ever work.
Max Ram is 24 Gigs based on CPU limitation.
Best to use matched sets "TRI Channel" compatible ram.
6 sticks of ram at 4 gigs each. CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9
