Dell shutting down on boot

Jump to solution

My Dell started to just shutdown on boot in the last couple of days. The only thing different is that the heatsink fan has started to make a louder noise. It still seems to be functioning, but I can't think of anything else to cause the kind of behavior (just turns off) than a CPU heat issue. Anything else anyone can think of before I replace this heatsink?

Can be many issues.  What is the model of your Dell and the version of windows you are running.

What indications do you see on the system such a the color and condition of the power button light?
