Dim screen on Dell Inspiron One 2320

Just got my Inspiron One 2320 a couple of days ago, which I ordered from the Dell Outlet. Was really looking forward to having a new all-in-one device. However, one thing that's been troubling me so far is that the LCD just does not seem that bright. Even when I adjust the brightness all the way, it still seems dim, especially when compared to my old monitor.

Is this just what's to be expected with TN LCD panels, or could there be something wrong with my "new" 2320?

Thanks,

Sam

Sam,

There should also be a way to control brightness in display properties. Did you check that?

Thanks Osprey, yes, I have it on full brightness, but it still seems dim.

Sorry Osprey, I was able to adjust the brightness in the display properties, but it just blows it out. I guess my real issue is with how the monitor is rendering colors. The whites seem more gray or muted than my current monitor.

Re: Dim screen on Dell Inspiron One 2320

Just got back from my local Best Buy. They had a floor model of the 2320. I noticed right away the quality of the screen was the same as mine. Not sure how to describe it, except that it seems like there's a film of plastic over the screen, darkening the screen image. The HP Touchsmart model that was right next to the 2320 had a sharp and crisp screen. My conclusion is that the TN panel that Dell used for the 2320 is subpar. And, after doing some more research, apparently Anandtech agrees with my assessment. www.anandtech.com/.../4

Despite the fact that I am thrilled with all the other features of the 2320, I just can't handle a subpar screen. Unfortunately, it's a deal breaker, and I'm going to have to return it back to Dell.

Sorry to hear about that. I haven't seen one of these systems in person myself.
