Dimension 2400 Light D
Good afternoon everyone! I'm new to this forum, but not to DELL or the IT field, but had been stumped by my 7 year old DELL Dim 2400. My 500GB HDD has died and I have installed two 500GB HDD, and was pretty excited about it too. When I press the power button it goes through the DELL boot screen then immedalty into "F1 to retry boot or F2 for setup", if I hit F1 I am brought back to the exact same screen. When I hit F2 everything checks out to be A-ok in the BIOS. On the back of the PC my "D" light is amber, according to the manual it should be a problem with the hardware that plugs into the system board. I have checked the jumpers on both HDDs, tried only using one as Cable Select, removed RAM, tried different set of RAM, swapped DVD & CD drivers, new keyboards, new ribbon cables, removed the CMOS etc.. If you can name it, I've probabaly done it, if anybody can point me in the right direction that'd be great! Thanks for your time & help! I can provide more info if requested.

Did you pull all the PCI cards? USB devices? Try starting the machine with no hard drive or optical drive just to see if the error changed?
