Dimension 4600 memory upgrade

I just upgraded my memory from 256MB to 4GB but do not see a measurable improvement in my computer's speed.  Any ideas what to do next?

Re: Dimension 4600 memory upgrade

CPU, video card, and hard drive are all potential areas of improvement.

What do you have now?

Re: Dimension 4600 memory upgrade

The other components are the original when we purchased it back in 2005.

CPU - Intel Pentium 4 Processory 530 with HT Techonology (3.0 Ghz, 800 FSB)

Video - Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900

Hard Drive - 160 GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM) - per properties - 66 GB used / 79 GB free

I did a defrag like some of the posts stated I should.

Under system properties/performance options, I have Processor Scheduling set to "Programs", Memory Usage set to "Programs" and Virtual memory set at 1,512 MB for Total paging size.  It is saying the recommended size is 4593 MB.

Can anyone suggest anything else?
