Dimension 5000. System Crash with blue screen when a DVD is ejected.
Dimension 5000. System Crash with blue screen when a DVD is ejected. This is a recent problem on my 3 year old machine. Sometimes, when I eject a DVD, by right clicking the DVD drive in My Computer or by the open/close button on the drive itself, the sytem crashes and I get a blue screen with an error message. The first error message I got was: IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL. STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8070194F, 0xF790AC30, 0xF790A92C). Similar error messges have followed. Otherwise the system seems to be working just fine. I haven't got a clue about these error messages!! Please help. fosjohn

This issue may occur if a system thread generates an exception that the error handler does not catch.
Click Send Error Report when you are prompted to send the error report to Microsoft. • If a fix or a workaround is available, click More Information after you send the error report to Microsoft. This helps you obtain the fix or information about how to work around the issue • If a fix or a workaround is not available, View the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) to determine if the devices in the computer are compatible with Windows XP. For information about the hardware compatibility list, visit the following Microsoft Web site http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx (http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx)
Disable or remove any drivers or services that you recently added. If the error occurs during the startup sequence and the system partition is using the NTFS file system, you may be able to use safe mode to rename or to delete the faulty driver. If the driver is used as part of the system startup process in safe mode, you must start the computer by using the Recovery Console to use the file.
