Does the dell optiplex gx620 support pcie 2.1 graphics cards
I just bought a dell optiplex gx620 desktop, i know that these computers are a little older but i am on a budget, i want to be able to play at least some moderate quality games so i am considering buying a new graphics card but most of the cards i have looked at have pci-e 2.1. i have heard that a pci-e 2.1will fit into a pci-e 1.0 x16 slot but the computer will not pick the card up if pci-e 2.1 is not supported by the bios. Does the bios a11 support pci-e 2.1?
this is the card im planning on buying http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161391

I have a 6450 (low end AMD 6XXX card) working with full functionality in a circa-2007 Socket 939 (PCIe 1.0). A 5450 card (previous generation) had issues with that same board; it appears that AMD has done a better job this time around with ensuring that their products are compatible with older boards.
I think you're safe to use that card.

That card will not PHYSICALLY go into a GX620.
You must use SINGLE SLOT Cards.

You CANNOT USE 2 SLOT WIDE Cards in Optiplex 620, 745, 755, 760 etc.

I have a Sapphire 6570 low profile working in an Optiplex GX620 SFF. The 400-watt power supply requirement is nonsense.

This might be too late, anyways open your case and check to see if your power supply is at least 400 watts which was mentioned in the card's info, if this card did work, please let me know.

PCI-E 2.1 is the chipset not the bios. 32 bit 33mhz 5v PCI 2.1 is not supported in Pentium4 based Optiplexes. They require PCI 2.2 or 2.3 that runs at 3.3v only.
