Does the heat damage my laptop?

Hi, I have using my Dell Studio 1558 laptop for a while and found out it has fas sound under my laptop (sure it is). But I think it is too loud and sometime it makes too loud, sometime it doesn't make any sound. Also I try to touch under my laptop and ouch! it's hot. I wonder will my laptop explode or something? Should I find the laptop fan to put under it? Thank you.
