I have an Inspiron 560, currently using the on-board graphics (Intel G45/G43). I found an old Radeon PCI video card so I though i could install it and use a second monitor (this is just a business computer -- no gaming or anything).
When I installed the PCI card the system seemed to disable the on-board graphics and I can't find a way to have both on at the same time.
This old card may make my system run slower, I'm not sure, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Any ideas on how I can have both on together?
FYI I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Enabling both onboard video card and discrete video card is not available for this system. The on-board Intel video won't support two monitors with separate (different) screens because you have only one VGA output on the PC. Please let me know the exact video card you are using to assist you better.
The amount of disinformation on dual monitor setup for this PC on Dell.com is staggering and wasted enough time I wanted to reply and clarify.
The 560 DOES support dual monitor - extended desktop with the onboard video card. I'm typing on it right now.
Have a Dell 24" attached to both the VGA and the HDMI ports on the back of the PC. Windows 7 x64 recognized it right away and extended the desktop.
Ship date of computer is 2011/09/23 so it may have updated drivers that others did not.
Driver is Intel G45/43 Version 22.214.171.1240 7/3/2009
