Flash OptiPlex 390 MoBo with Inspiron 620s BIOS?
Hi,
I had to replace a bad MoBo on an Inspiron 620s. I bought a cheap one off eBay, but it's from an OptiPlex 390 (same MoBo part number). I've been having an issue with the power button and it gives me an alert every time it boots, but I know the power button is good (tested with a few known-good ones). I updated the BIOS to the latest for OptiPlex 390 (O390-A10) but it still gives the Alert. I tried downloading the Inspiron version but it won't take it.
Can anyone help? Is it possible?

Please share the part number of the motherboard purchased, as the part number of Inspiron 620s motherboard is 9192G and part number for Optiplex 390 SFF is F6X5P and for Optiplex 390 DT/MT is M5DCD. The part numbers of motherboard for both the systems are different. Also, the BIOS of Inspiron 620s is compatible for below listed systems:
Hence, you will not be able to flash the BIOS of Inspiron 620s on Optiplex 390 motherboard. Hope this helps.

The Motherboard was listed on eBay as 0GDG8Y and MIH61R. The first one is the MoBo for the Inspiron 620. But it shows OptiPlex 390 Series when you first boot the computer.

Thank you for sharing the information. Unfortunately, the part number shared by you are not of Inspiron 620 and neither for Optiplex 390. I have shared the correct part numbers with you in my initial reply.

As a follow up to this thread. I have an Inspiron 620 where the MB went bad. It was replaced by an OPTIPLEX 390 MB. The BIOS of the Optiplex 390 MB is v A01. I read on the support website that it states the MB must be flashed to A02 before you can flash to the latest version.
WIll there be any harm flashing the BIOS on the Optiplex 390 MB even though it is now installed in an Inspiron 620?
