GPU AND PSU UPGRADE

Looking to upgrade my dell inspiron 3847 graphics card to a gtx 1050.

Concerned that my PSU cant handle it. Which psu should i upgrade to? Would the corsair cx 430 be suitable

there are a handful of GTX 1050 cards that need a six pin PCIe power cable. MSI Gaming X, One of the Asus Strix and an EVGA GTX 1070. I don't remember which one.

I'm not sure I'd trust the inspiron  motherboard to deliver 75 watts via the PCIe slot, even though that is what the spec's say should be delivered, so getting one that has power from a PCIe connector won't tax the MoBo.

A corsair cx 430 would be OK, but unless it is on sale for less than $30 I'd shop around. ( current pricing is $49.99 )

Corsair CX450M is semi modular and cheaper. currently 26.99 after rebate at new egg.

EVGA 's 450B is a decent unit, and is on sale for $31 at new egg.

If you want a much better quality PSU, SeaSonic SSR-550RM is on sale, also at new egg for $49.99

If you upgrade the PSU you could also look into a GTX 1050 ti or a short GTX 1060. Might be worth thinking about.

What software do you have that you need the upgrade? If it's gaming you might want to at least look at the 1050ti.

cx 430 would be fine ... i bet the 300w power supply in your system might be able to handle the gtx 1050 as it doesn't need an external power cable ... the gtx 1050 draws between 65 and 74 watts depending on what game you are playing.
