GTX 1070 in an Optiplex 7040 MT : Do I need to upgrade the PSU ?

Hello community :)

I was lucky enough to get a free optiplex 7040 MT (with i7 and 512gb ssd),

I was thinking of buying a kfa2 gtx 1070, will it fit ?

Will 240w of psu be enough ?

If not, how can i change it ?

Can i put a regular PSU or do I need these weird dimensions from dell ?

Thanks for your time,

Nidly

Hi Nidly,

Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.

As per the specifications of GTX 1070 on Nvidia website, the minimum power required for this graphics card is 500W. Hence it is not recommended to install the graphics card with the stock PSU.

Thanks for the answer :)

Is there such thing as a PSU upgrade for this pc ? (I could do with 400W)

If not, can I take the cpu, ram and M.2 ssd out and stick them on another motherboard ?

Hi Nidly,

There is no PSU or motherboard upgrade available for this system from Dell. In regards to swapping the motherboard, it would depend on the specification of the motherboard.
