GX280 and IDE Hard Drives?

I just got a refurbished GX280. Before I take it apart, etc. I have a question. I have 2 IDE Hardrives (1 for backup)  I'd like to use to upgrade this machine.  Does the GX280 have Sata?I can't seem to find this out anywere. For some reason I thought it had a IDE Harddrive.

Maybe there is a IDE controller on the MB?

Hello captcaper, HERE  is a link to the Dell site for the GX280 systems.

There seems to be several model, but they show this system to have one SATA and One IDE connector.

It supports one SATA drive and up to two IDE drives.

Hope this helps.

You don't give the format of your GX280, but I'll assume it's a small Mini Tower.

The Small Mini Tower has 2x SATA connectors and one IDE controller for two drives.

I do have the small Mini tower with the flap that lifts up for usb access in front.  So I can use my ide hard drives I have? I'd like to put two of them. One master one slave since they are new and 160gb  7200rpm. Can't return them.

From some reading I did I'm under the impression the IDE controller  on my gx280  board might be for CD/RW,etc. drives only?

What do ya all think?

Yes, the usual Dell configuration is having two optical drives on the IDE controller, with two SATA hard drives.

You could try connecting the IDE hard drives on the IDE controller and use a SATA optical drive connected to SATA 2 on the motherboard, but, as I've never try this configuration, I cannot be certain of it's viability.
