GX380s w/1909 and 1911 monitors flickering\flashing, going off center & turning black

Hi,

On at least 7 GX380s  w/1909 and 1911 monitors we are running into flickering\flashing, video going off center & turning black for a minute at a time.  These computers are all using the Inte G41 Express Chipset for the display driver.  I've reseated everything, set the monitors to auto adjust, but still happens.  We've also installed the monitor driver instead of using the generic.  Any ideas?  I've tried upgrading the video driver, but there wasn't a better match for it.  Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks,

tj woods

Hi tj woods,

I assume these are Optiplex 380s? What OS?

Thanks for the response.  They are Optiplex GX380s, running XP SP3.  We are using Altiris, with a hardware independent image.  That's why I've tried upgrading the display adapter driver, but it's installing the correct one.  Not sure what to do next.

Not to quibble, but the model is 380.

Try setting the BIOS video option to on-board.

Thanks, this helped, but did not correct it totally.  I have disabled the monitor's power off option in the control panel.  Hopefully we're on the right track.

It is better, but even with the changes it still blacks out.

What if you tried a clean installation of the operating system on one of the machines. That would allow an evaluation of your image.

Have you had any luck resolving this issue.  We have serveral of the Dell Optiplex 380 units, and one of ours is having the same problem.  User is working along and then the mouse locks up, and about 20 seconds later the screens flicker to black, and then they come back uph a display driver error and all is functional again.

Hi dharrison,

What's the graphics adapter? Integrated? Have you checked for an updated driver in downloads?
